Project Background

Cadmus was awarded the USAID Digital Forward Activity, which provides tools and technical assistance to USAID Missions and Washington Operating Units to ensure digital initiatives are incorporated into USAID programs and activities. Digital Forward advance digital initiatives that enhance digital security and economic prosperity in partner countries, while safeguarding individual rights, freedom of expression, and democratic norms and practices.

The Regional Inclusive Digital Ecosystem, or RIDE, is an activity from USAID’s Regional Development Mission for Asia (RDMA) under Digital Forward. A five-year program, RIDE will leverage the dynamism of Southeast Asia’s digital economy to promote a more inclusive, safe, reliable, and open digital ecosystem. RIDE will focus on strengthening the policy environment, supporting innovations that safeguard consumers, and promoting equity and inclusion in the digital ecosystem.

Position Summary

The Communications Lead for the RIDE project will be an experienced communications professional responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance the visibility and impact of the project's initiatives. The Communications Lead will work closely with Operations Manager, Component Leads, and the Project Director to help tell the story of RIDE, both to internal USG audiences and to external audiences. This will include thinking creatively how to share stories in a compelling manner. This role involves crafting and disseminating key messages, managing media relations, and overseeing the production of high-quality content across various platforms to engage stakeholders and the public. This position requires exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple activities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Develop Communication Strategies: Create and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the RIDE project’s goals and objectives, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms

Content Creation: Write, edit, and distribute content such as press releases, newsletters, social media posts, and blog articles to enhance RIDE’s public image and engagement

Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with team members and external stakeholders to gather information and develop unified, impactful messaging

Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, ensuring positive coverage and managing any media inquiries or press events

Multimedia Production: Oversee the creation of multimedia content, including videos, infographics, and podcasts, to diversify RIDE’s communication channels and reach a broader audience

Contribute to Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate contributions to USAID reporting requirements, including quarterly and annual reports, highlighting the progress, impact, and lessons learned from responsible technology initiatives

Content Collaboration: Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist and project team to write and edit engaging and informative content, including high-level project briefs, case studies, articles, blog posts, and reports to showcase program activities, impacts, good practices, and success stories. Ensure all communications materials have been properly vetted internally or with USAID, as required

Outreach Support: Support outreach and engagement, including the organization of events, high-level official visits, workshops, and conferences by developing communication materials, such as presentations, project briefs, press kits, and event summaries

Quality Assurance: Ensure all communications outputs are of high quality, consistent with USAID branding and marking guidelines, and tailored to the target audience

Innovative Communication: Identify and implement innovative communication tools and techniques to enhance audience engagement and project visibility

Reporting and Location

This position reports to the Project Director. This position will also work closely with HQ Cadmus staff. This position is to be based in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a full-time position, in-person in the office, with some remote work permitted. This will be a contracted position for the length of one year, with the option to extend annually, up to a total of five years.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for this role is 76,000 – 83,000 USD on an annual basis.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred

Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within international development or the digital economy sector

Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, and producing high-quality content for various platforms, including press releases, reports, social media, and multimedia

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, concise, and compelling content for various audiences

Experience in planning and coordinating communication efforts for events, webinars, and conferences

Proficiency in relevant software and tools for content creation, graphic design, and analytics

Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Experience in leading a team, stakeholder engagement, and management

Legally authorized to work in Thailand without the need for sponsorship

Experience working on USAID or other donor programs preferred

Full professional fluency in both Thai and English, including excellent writing capabilities in English
